Carlton-in-Lindrick Information Centre, better known as CLIC, was virtually inherited by the management on the completion of the new Village Hall. It consists of a well-appointed room with fourteen computers linked to a central black and white printer.

Despite it's high-sounding title the key to it's success is the informal way in which it is operated. It is in no way a structured course and is run by volunteers who open the Centre every Monday evening from 6.30 to 8.30pm, and Thursday mornings from 9.30 to 11.30am. Because it is not a course these times are flexible, and users come and go as they please between these times.

No silly promises are made like making you into a computer expert in two easy lessons, but you can look forward to individual tuition to get you going in the sometimes frustrating world of computer use.

So, if it not a course as such, what is it?

It is ideal for the person who isn't sure on even how to turn the computer on, and you can ask the tutor to show you exactly what interests you, whether it be word processing, document producing, working with photographs, exploring the family tree, or simply browsing the Internet looking for an ideal holiday. The room can be full of people all working on different things! The only area in which we refuse to cooperate is in the use of chat-rooms as we are well aware of the possible dangers, especially to young people.

We have mentioned young people but age makes no difference to our group, it is irrelevant. There is no charge for this class so you have nothing to lose, and you will even make new friends, just turn up and give it a try.! If you require any further information give us a ring on 01909 730783.
